Chooky Dancers perform their famous Zorba the Greek dance at the Art Gallery of NSW 14 June 2008
“I am Greek and Ive seen Zorbas Ballet in the Athenian Opera,” –> Oh really, me I danced it with Coco in heaven.
Yiasoo, from Melbourne Australia. Poli Kala, to horo, pou kanane i mavri……
I am Greek and Ive seen Zorbas Ballet in the Athenian Opera, in the Parisian Opera, in ancient theatres and practically in every conceivable place but these guys make me really, really, really PROUD.
Greetings from Greece and may the Zorba spirit always lead your lives!
The Big Guy at the back – he’s always right behind the leader, garawirrtja. The fat one – he’s the man, the rock. He knows it inside out and does it perfectly, but the leader has the long thin body and limbs to make it look funny. I LOVE THE CHOOKY DANCERS. They make me smile.
This is a funny video but the first video when u search is better
my “anglo countrymen” ?
Clearly you are the one who is making racist generalisations.
You just don’t get it, do you ?
The chooky dancers performances are enjoyed by indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, as well as people around the world. They have combined what appears to be traditional Aboriginal dance moves, along with other ideas with a thoroughly non-indigenous tune.
Let me make it plain once again, ABORIGINALS ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOUR.
I reasoned that you did not want to percieve that they were being mocked, because you seek to defend your countrymen from the charge of racism
I think i understand your perspective however.
it is the defence of your anglo countrymen.
i would ask what your opinion of redfaces/blackfaces would be,
and you would reply ‘innocent mistake’
because your goal is the defence of your countrymen
could you please explain what is humorous or what the appeal is?
I did watch the other versions, (and the comments)
and i feel this one is the mildest.
condescending? perhaps but this is exploitation!
have you seen the version on britains got talent?
do you think they enjoy this humiliation?
regardless of what the manager says, THEY ARE BEING MOCKED
how do you [pretend to] fail to see this
I counted 26 positive comments, and 5 negative plus some irrelevant and deleted. Your definition of a majority is a bit skewed.
You might also watch the numerous other versions of the same blokes dancing and listen to the comments by their manager.
But sadly, Sam, you appear to have a condescending & racist attitude to our indigenous countrymen. They are “noble savages” of great and ancient culture, eh, and aren’t allowed to have a sense of humour ?
you should see some of the comments. it seems that the majority do not percieve it as you do
We are laughing WITH them AT THEIR sense of humour.
Those blokes have not only the dance ability but the comedic skills to have a bit of fun at the same time.
I love the chooky dancers all the more for this, and I hope that they achieve success.
This is degrading! Please try and see it in a different light.
I dont understand how an art gallery can host such a thing!
Are we laughing with them or at them?
What does Harry Connick Jnr think of this?
bullshit Akitatom…u think all aboriginals go around stabbing ppl?…far out it dont matter wat music any1 does a dance to its all for fun an if u hadnt noticed…aboriginals welcome every other race to join them in there cultural dance an playing the didgeridoo…so dont assume things ok!! go to an aboriginal cultural event and u will see what i am talkin about…besides u may just learn sumthn!
Captain Falcon asked them the “Show Me Your Moves!”
This was his answer.
I expect everyone in PBN to be doing this version next week ok!!!!!!
Coming from a Greek background, I am NOT offended at all. In fact I commend them. I know we as Greek don ttake offense to other races dancing our music and songs. If the Aboriginals do, then thats there business. If it is a cultural sensitive thing to do Aboriginal dancing then who are we to do it? GOOD ON YOU ALL FOR DOING THIS. GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA THE BEST COUNTRY ON EARTH
Gubba’s are always crying woe is them and the blackfella are violent. Grow up. Aboriginals are placid people and it just goes to show how shows like 60 mins has you brain washed. they control your life. Aboriginals in Prison are there for petty reasons. Gubba’s are in there for stabbings, rapes, murder, look up stats at the ABS. (oh dont stab me for that comment
These guys are really good, but the only thing that i find stupid is the fact that if a Greek person (for example) put on aboriginal music and started dancing to it, he/she would be called a racist and probably stabbed repeatedly. We really need to fix this one-way racism thing.
you are all stupid !!!
HAHA AWESOME
hahaha. autralias funny (L)
I really like and love this music and dance by Aboriginals…. I want to buy this particular song and video, where can i buy it?
superparodie zum schmunzeln!!!!!
